Youth Leadership Monument Hill's involvement with youth begins early with sponsorship of the scouts in Monument. SERTOMA promotes fun and the sense of belonging to an organization that means something in the community. Members then progress in to the High School group which takes part in a wide range of activities and programs, all under the careful guidance of volunteer counselor/teachers from the school... and equally-involved MHS members. The watchword, though, is that the kids plan their programs of service, their own budgets, and their own social activities. At 200+, our Lewis Palmer Serteen club is one of the largest in the country. From among the Serteens, MHS sponsors' attendance at the Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge, at Girls' and Boys' State, and at the Rocky Mountain Leadership Conference, all in the interest of developing leadership qualities and skills in today's youth... tomorrow's leaders.
